Establishing a brand’s identity is obviously important for the brand to know who they are, for designers to know what needs to be expressed through a logo, an ad or graphic. This also connects with the consumer.
Conduct research
Write down different means of conducting research, what can be done to collect information and consumers perspective on a proposed idea.
First I ask the company brand them self, what do they associate with, what describes them, their history, what are they selling, who’s their target and what their goals are. As for consumers I like to get my info quick and watch reactions, maybe go around and ask “what’s the first that comes to mind when you think of….” and ask both regulars consumers and others. Could also use surveys as an alternative.
Clarify the strategy
What do think should be included in a creative brief, what would you consider vital information for you as a designer?
For the brief, it should be clear and include what I mentioned above as well as some input from the audience.
• Who they are
• What they provide
• Who their target group is
• What they want to achieve
• Specialities
Design the identity
How would you approach the findings from the research and the clarified strategy, what would your first steps be once you’ve received feedback and a brief.
• Obviously first, it would be to read through it and check it the brand’s expectations fit with the consumer’s impression.
• Then visualise based on the research. Think of colours, fonts, shapes, imagery.
• I would find a picture or go through the brand’s website and write down whatever comes to mind and develop further into sketches.
Create touch points
What do you think is meant by touch points, what do you think should be included I; the term touch points?
Keep in mind that touch points are those things that connects consumers to your brand.
• I interpreters touch points as both places were they meet the consumers both physically and emotionally.
• Employees
• Shops
• Website
• Mailing lists
• Social media
Manage the assets
How would you nurture and grow the brand you have created?
• Grow with the audience, if possible
• Check up with the audience
• Set new goals
• Expand the brand’s product list or services. • Troubleshooting
